Building
a Future
Economic Development is the key to creating new
jobs. To that end, I have worked diligently over the years to
bring additional jobs to Washtenaw County and part of that work
has been the recent announcement of Ford Motor Co. to add many
new jobs both immediately and in the near future. In addition I
have been working with SPARK (an organization that promotes
business and industry in Washtenaw County) to assist two new
green start up industries that have located in Washtenaw County.
These companies are A123 Systems, Inc. and
Current Motors,
which produce electric scooters and motor cycles. 
Both industries are expected to employ many people as they grow and expand.
I will continue to make our County friendly to green industries so as to bring full employment to our residents.

In Pursuit of Jobs, we continue to assist in the financing of the Washtenaw Development Council and Spark.
Washtenaw Development Council reaches out to business and industry to locate in Washtenaw County and create new jobs.
SPARK is a public/ private partnership that develops new technology and incubator businesses which, in turn, also create jobs.
